    The Journey Toward Holiness

When Jesus “made himself nothing…taking the nature of a servant,” He modeled for all believers true humility. Andrew Murray calls this “our true nobility” and “the distinguishing feature of discipleship.” With insightful, penetrating clarity, Murray calls all Christians to turn from pride, empty themselves, and study the character of Christ to be filled with His grace.

Often called the best work on humility ever written, this edition has been edited for today’s reader.

SOUL WEAVINGS: A Gathering of Women’s Prayers

As Christians, we are part of a vast community of believers, most of whom we will never meet. Yet, through their writings, women of other times, places, and cultures can become our companions, encouraging us to take risks, helping us to go on when the way is difficult, teaching us how to pray. Through these companions of the soul God “comes to meet us in the hardest hours,” “challenges us to change the world,” and helps us “to behold God in everything.”

Why use written prayer? A well-written prayer is like a picture, capturing a view of one person’s spiritual landscape. As with pictures, we will be drawn more to some than others. Some prayers will help us to identify how God is already present in us and in the world. Others will become a real encounter with God, transforming us and calling us to respond with our lives. Still others may reveal our longing for the relationships we would like to have with God, and with those around us. Certain prayers become favorite resting places for times when our resources are low; it is easier to accept our own struggles when we find that we are not alone.

Prayer books become like good friends, who sometimes comfort and sometimes challenge us. They connect us with “thoughts higher than our thoughts, prayers better than our prayers, and powers beyond our powers, that we may spend and be spent in the ways of love and goodness.”

  • Daily Chase

    $24.99

There is a vast difference between having an encounter with God and having a relationship with Him. It’s like the difference between a sprint and a marathon. Anyone can start a marathon-but the honor goes to those who finish and finish well.
A marathon is more than just a Sunday morning “fun run.” It requires dedication, determination, and discipline. It means staying the course-running even when you’d rather give up and collapse. Stamina and direction can be more important than speed.

This book is dedicated to people who are more than Sunday morning sprinters. They understand that a relationship with God is a Daily Chase.

May this devotional be fuel for those dedicated God chasers who do not simply desire to run, but to finish the race and finish well.

This book is more than a Sunday morning “fun run.” This is a red lights flashing, sirens blaring, “in-hot-pursuit” book!

  • Earth Angels : Stories Of Heavenly Encouragement Through Earthly Vessels

    $15.95

The best stories?the ones that touch our hearts at their very cores, the ones that inspire us to our greatest heights?are true stories of ordinary people just like ourselves. People who share a kind word in time of need, who do a simple deed that lifts a weary heart, who make a difference in a difficult day.

The stories in this book are not about great, winged celestial beings sent from heaven’s majestic gates. No, these stories are about earth angels. The kind of angels who unknowingly intercept a suicide attempt through a gentle act of kindness, beam messages of hope over an old CB radio, or provide patient care in a duck suit.

As you read the stories in this book, your spirit will be inspired and the strings of your heart tuned to opportunities for you to be a little bit of heaven right here on earth.

  • Breakfast With God 2

    $5.99

This big, bright series takes daily Bible reading to a new, funkier, and much more relevant level. Daily Bible study is still popular with active Christians (about half a million of them), and there are various products on the market, but none that really appeal to the younger, trendy Christian scene. Breakfast with God, with its bright and exciting design, should exactly hit the spot. With the breakfast theme running through, each page will have: Orange Juice: a short Bible passage – The Big Breakfast: for those with 15 minutes to spend – The Continental Breakfast: if you’re in a rush or want to add to the longer study – Coffee: a short prayer or idea to think on. The content will be as relevant to young Christians as is the design. This resource is biblical, but also addresses their concerns, and helps them build a spiritual framework in order to live their lives with integrity. The authors speak the language of their audience: Duncan Banks (Christians in Sport), Rozi Stirling (National Youth Officer for Northern Ireland’s Presbyterian Church), Gerard Kelly (Generation X expert), Simon Hall (REVIVE). This is the second in a series, with 120 readings per book. Three will be published in the first year. The books will be aimed at the twenties and early thirties (but will no doubt also be picked up by those who are younger).

  • Abba

    $10.95

“Most Christian people often find it difficult to say their prayers in any meaningful way. Here, in these extracts from a book of devotional meditations by Evelyn Underhill, will be found clear but profound guidance on how to pray. The title of the book, Abba, is the term used in more than one place in the New Testament for addressing God as Father and it is with the ‘Our Father’ prayer that these meditations are concerned. At first sight it might be thought impossible to say anything fresh on something so familiar to all Christians as the Lord’s Prayer. Yet the inexhaustible depths of meaning to be found in it may, by the very fact of familiarity, all too easily escape notice and understanding. In these meditations those depths are explored with passionate intensity by an acknowledged expert in Christian mysticism. Both as a scholar of widely recognized academic distinction in her chosen field of story and as one of the leader conductors of retreats in her day, Evelyn Underhill (1875 – 1941) proved to have an unusual gift for combining spiritual perception of a rare order and a deep sympathy with the human situation.” –from the preface by Roger L. Roberts

    $14.99

You Don’t Have to Be Deep to Hear God’s Voice!
It’s so simple! So simple a shallow person can understand it. What I’ve found out about God is that he is totally trustworthy, and I can relax in his plans. And besides that, all he wants is – are you ready for this? – for me to be his person. Just be his person, for heaven’s sake! All I can say to that is, Duh! Who knows? Next I may be writing a six-volume Bible commentary! – Sue Buchanan in Duh-Votions

Meet Sue Buchanan. She says to audiences, “I may as well tell you because you’ll figure it out anyway: I’m not that deep. I’m shallow. But I’m deep for a shallow person.”

Sue offers a merry and witty look at life from the “shallow” end of the gene pool in sixty fun devotions. From entertaining angels with chicken andaluza to listing her not-so-favorite blond jokes, from a debate on Spam vs. baloney to dramas between mothers and daughters, she’ll make you laugh . . . and think about some important lessons in life.

This very funny lady shows us all that we don’t have to be “deep” to hear God’s voice. All we have to do is listen and we’ll find his message about love and redemption in even the smallest details of everyday life.

    Additional Info
ChristHeart is a book of meditations based on thirty-four (34) events or teachings from the life of Jesus Christ. The reader is invited to enter more fully into the life of the human Jesus and to identify with the feelings and thoughts of Christ as he carried out his earthly ministry.

Designed to facilitate contemplative prayer, the author encourages readers to imagine the responses of Jesus as he dealt with conflict, entered into friendship with the disciples and others, and healed people and taught them about a vital, personal, love relationship with God. The reader can enter into the experiences of Jesus by reading a selected scripture from the Gospels and one of the meditations, and then picturing the scene and identifying with the feelings and thoughts of Jesus in that scene.

At the end of each meditation is a question to encourage reflection and a deepening of one’s own understanding of how the life of Christ intersects with and transforms the reader’s life.

Miley has written seven mediations for each of the thirty-five (35) Gospel stories

“And now I will show you the most excellent way. . . .”
No words, no passage, no song, no poem in all of human history has crystallized the qualities of love into simple absolutes more elegantly than 1 Corinthians 13. The Love Chapter of the Bible paints a perfect picture of love. It reveals the ideal love for which everyone yearns. But the passage is not a fantasy of what might be nice. It is a serious essay on how love can be lived, describing qualities ordinary people can cultivate to build extraordinary relationships.

Relationship experts Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott have compiled fifteen translations of 1 Corinthians 13 to inspire and teach anyone wanting to be a better lover. In the preface, the Parrotts describe love as the supreme good, a gift that lifts us outside of ourselves. They follow with meditations on very diverse translations and creative paraphrases of 1 Corinthians 13 – from the 20th Century New Testament translation published in 1900 to The Message, published in 1995, from J. B. Phillips (1947) to The Living Bible (1979), and from the Basic Bible (1950) to the New King James Version (1979).

This book makes a beautiful gift for engagements, weddings, Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, or any occasion when love is celebrated.

Best-selling author Phillip Keller explores the practical implications of living in daily communion with God. Many Christians believe that this kind of intimate fellowship is a special favor granted only to the loftiest of saints. But Phillip Keller reminds us that every believer can live in the daily joy of God’s presence.
Walking with God in the spirit, in the soul, and in the body – abiding wholly in the presence of Immanuel – will energize and illuminate every corner of one’s life with God’s guidance and comfort. Keller calls the reader to accept God’s invitation to walk humbly with Him. When we accept His invitation, He will reveal to us who we truly are, what life direction we are taking, and the ultimate destination of our individual walk of faith.
Walking with God is for “the weary and worn who have lost their way and are uncertain where to turn….It is intended especially for those seeking souls who long to walk with God in humble joy – who ache fiercely for the Master’s friendship.”
