  • How To Stay Out Of The City Beneath Your Feet

    $28.99

How important are language and words, right and wrong believing, thinking and speaking? What is life all about and where is it heading? Is death the end with one destiny? Is there a real Satan, and is Hell a real place or an overused metaphor? Do angels really exist? Are we really created in the image of God and if so, what does that mean? Where is the mind? As important as these questions are, it seems that most people have forgotten to ask them. Who bewitched them? Are there in fact ultimate answers to the ultimate questions? In this book, Author Richard W. Menear, Ph.D. addresses these topics and many others. Humanity’s distance from God and closeness to the enemy. Religion, ethics and standards being reduced to a trash pile. Sin. Man’s view vs. God’s view. Specific moral issues like abortion, homosexuality, infidelity. The resurrection of the body. What Hell is really like! Explained in depth, Dr. Menear explores the plight of fallen mankind and unmasks the enemy’s deceptions designed to destroy, and to replace scriptural truth. All these mysteries have been revealed to the world through God’s Son, and are examined here. This book will take you on your solo journey that includes the most important aspects of life from the beginning to end just like God said it would be!

  • Prelude To Holy Ghost Fire

    $16.99

This book is part of my healing journey back to wholeness. It is my story, having left my upper middle class upbringing to live with my first boyfriend in 1967 shortly after I graduated from high school. We legally married, but my boyfriend removed the words, “till death do us part” from the ceremony. Thus, he justified full sexual exploitation of me. While he was a conscientious objector to the Vietnam War, my then husband abandoned me to a hippie commune in Berkeley, California, two months after our first son was born in1972. I have been through fire. In 2000 during my first session with a psychiatrist, he jumped from his chair and said, “See, you have depression, and you have had it most of your life.” I did not agree then, but I do now. I had no sense of it, none. As we began to work together and my story unfolded, it became clear that I had it “all”; Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex PTSD, Dissociative Identity Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder and/or deep emotional wounding. I didn’t seek help for 30 years. I worked full time, attempted to raise children and swept my life under the rug. No matter how bad it was for me, I just kept going until one day I couldn’t do it anymore. I began to collapse. I had to face the truth about my life. I had been treated worse than an abandoned, abused animal. I learned that you can run, but you can’t hide. If God is going to save you, He is going to do it, no matter who you are, what you have been through, where you have been, how you treat yourself and what other people say, do or think.

  • Grace Eventually : Thoughts On Faith

    $17.00

The sharp, funny, and heartfelt follow-up to her bestselling Plan B, Anne Lamott’s newest collection is a personal exploration of the faith and grace all around us.

In Grace (Eventually): Thoughts on Faith, Lamott examines the ways we’re caught in life’s most daunting predicaments: love, mothering, work, politics, and maybe toughest of all, evolving from who we are to who we were meant to be. This is a complicated process for most of us, and Lamott turns her wit and honesty inward to describe her own intimate, bumpy, and unconventional road to grace and faith.

“I wish grace and healing were more abracadabra kinds of things,” she writes in one of her essays, “that delicate silver bells would ring to announce grace’s arrival. But no, it’s clog and slog and scootch, on the floor, in silence, in the dark.”

Whether she’s writing about her unsuccessful efforts to get her money back from an obstinate carpet salesman, grappling with the tectonic shifts in her relationship with her son as he matures, trying to maintain her faith and humor during politically challenging times, or helping a close friend die with dignity, Lamott seeks out both the divinity and the humanity in herself and everything around her. Throughout these essays, she writes of her struggle to find the essence of her faith, which she uncovers in the unlikeliest places. By turns insightful and hilarious, pointed and poignant, Grace (Eventually) is Anne Lamott at her perceptive and irreverent best.

  • Declaration Of Financial Independence

    $17.49

In our culture many corrupted ideas of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness have been promoted and accepted for so long that they bear the superficial appearance of being right. Americans design lifestyles and build financial plans around these “ideas” without realizing oppression lies just beneath their surface-a tyranny far worse than the British Crown ever stamped on us. By exploring the causes and the destructive effects of excess, A Declaration of Financial Independence is a rallying cry for preserving our sacred freedoms. It empowers the reader with a Biblical perspective for financial decision-making and reveals the secret of contentment in an age of unprecedented-but often unfulfilling-wealth. This one-of-a-kind composition is principled, clever and instructive. From Jesus to Joseph Goebbels (Hitler’s propaganda minister), the book uses Scripture, history, statistics and personal anecdotes to expose and expel a new tyrant-the Crown of Popular Culture.

  • Meanings : The Bible As Document And As Guide

    $25.00

These essays reveal the consistency and integrity of a master exegete, New Testament theologian, and churchman. Stendahl brings to the biblical text a constant concern to discover what was meant by a particular biblical passage, as free as possible of the doctrinal or cultural preoccupations of intervening centuries, but also to reflect on what the text means to us today, ever alert to the ways scripture has fueled anti-semitism, the subordination of women, and other forms of prejudice and injury. The combination of respect shown here for the diversity of meanings in scripture and the urgency of reflecting – critically and faithfully – on our contemporary responsibilities in light of scripture is irresistible. The collection is a testament to the wide range of Stendahl’s interests and the depth of his perception.

    $19.99

Power and Identity in the Global Church: Six Contemporary Cases applies contemporary sociological, theological, and New Testament insights to better understand how God’s people can, do, and should interact in the field, thereby laying the groundwork for better multicultural approaches to mission partnership. The authors-six evangelical anthropologists and theologians-also show that faithfulness in mission requires increased attention to local identities, cultural themes, and concerns, including the desire to grow spiritually through direct engagement with God’s word. In this context, failure to attend to power imbalances can stunt spiritual and leadership growth. Attending to those imbalances should make Christian churches more truly brothers and sisters in Christ, equal members of the one global body of which Christ alone is the head.

    Additional Info
Solomon’s words from a famous passage of Ecclesiastes have been translated, “Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.” But in Solomon among the Postmoderns, author Peter Leithart says those words are better translated as “Vapor of vapors, all is vapor,” emphasizing that human life is fleeting. Leithart uses this theme, as well as the entire book of Ecclesiastes, to indicate how Solomon resonated with postmodernism.

Exploring the strengths and limits of postmodernism, he displays how the theory reflects an important biblical theme: the elusiveness and instability of the world. But he goes on to show that biblical faith takes us beyond cynicism and despair, exploring Solomon’s frequent call to “eat, drink, and rejoice.”

A skilled theologian and widely published author, Leithart writes for audiences including professors and students of philosophy, apologetics, biblical studies, and theology, as well as laypeople seeking a biblical view of postmodernism. Those familiar and unfamiliar with postmodernism will learn from the book’s forthright exegetical approach, which is unique among the many books about postmodernism available today.

    $20.00

This breezy and engaging book will delight the Dr. Seuss fan in all of us! Short writes in the Introduction, “When I first became acquainted with his books and was struck by the many parallels I saw between his work and what is said in the Bible and by Christian faith, I considered these similarities to be merely ‘happy accidents.’ Today I still see these parallels as ‘happy,’ but I’m now convinced that they are not merely ‘accidents.'”
